Red Mouse Media is a boutique digital media and marketing company.

We believe in community small businesses. We believe in the power of community nonprofits. We believe that local businesses need to be vested in their communities and their communities need to be vested in local businesses. We believe in being a part of and giving back to the community.

Everyone Has a Story…
This is Where Ours Starts

A short discussion with a local business owner led to the realization that small businesses, startups and nonprofits need help telling their story and understanding the true meaning of “Brand”. That’s when Red Mouse, the boutique media company in the Southwest suburbs of Chicago, was born.

This business owner was showing off the logo design for their restaurant and kept referring to it as his “brand.” It made us realize that far too often people confuse their logo with their brand. After nearly 30 years in corporate marketing, advertising, PR and media, that chance conversation led us to make the decision to leave that world and focus on our true calling: working with local businesses and nonprofits to tell their unique story and find their “brand”.

What’s the Difference Between
a Logo and a Brand?

Some corporations spend tens of thousands of dollars on their logos, and in fact they have nothing to do with their company. Think of the stylistic Mermaid selling coffee or the wave swoosh to sell shoes. These are some of the largest companies in the world with very recognizable logos… yet they don’t tell you anything about what they do or sell.

Seth Godin, one of the premier marketers in the world, loves to use the example of Nike and Hyatt. He says Nike has a true brand and Hyatt is a commodity. If Nike created a hotel, everyone would have an idea what it would look like and feel like before ever seeing it. Conversely, if Hyatt were to come out with a sneaker, nobody would have any idea what it would be. That’s because Nike is a brand and Hyatt is just one of many commodity hotels. If we were to switch the signs on a Hyatt, Hilton or Marriott hotel, would you know the difference?
